"Showtime!"
As I enter my married friends' gatherings, it feels like
stepping onto the stage of a comedy show. The banter, the teasing, all
perfectly timed to poke fun at my single status. Even the little ones, with
their innocent charm, chime in, asking why "Uncle B" doesn't have an
"Aunty" yet. Oh, those little midgets are quick-witted, and they sure
know how to tickle the funny bone!
But you see, my life is like a roller coaster, and I am
savoring every twist and turn. Why rush to the next phase when the present is
so darn entertaining? Responsibilities may be waiting in the wings, but there
is no harm in enjoying the spotlight a bit longer!
As men, we are not just here to enrich ourselves; we are
here to be pillars of support for those around us. Now, do not get me wrong; I
am not saying marriage is off the table forever. Oh no! I am simply relishing
my time as a "show-up man" for now, and it is quite a role!
Some might argue that there is a "best before"
date for marriage, like a fine wine past its prime. But let me tell you, like
that aged wine, we men get better with time! So why should I pop the cork
prematurely when I can enjoy the full-bodied flavours of life?
Marrying in our mid-thirties brings its own benefits! We
have had time to refine our wit, humour, and charm – qualities that only get
better with age. We have gained experiences, navigated through difficulties,
and honed our emotional intelligence. In addition, we have become experts at
assembling Moko furniture!
Now, do not think for a moment that I am passing up on love.
Oh no, I am keeping my eyes peeled for that extraordinary someone who will be
the perfect dance partner in life's hilarious tango. When that time comes, I
will happily waltz down the aisle with a heart full of laughter.
In the meantime, I am basking in the freedom of
bachelorhood, cherishing every quirky adventure, and creating memories that
will make for epic storytelling when I am old and wrinkly. And believe me, the
tales will be worth the wait!
So here's a toast to life's delightful absurdities, to love
that blooms fashionably late, and to embracing the journey without rushing to
the destination. Let us raise our glasses to laughter, love, and the riotous
comedy that is Uncle B's life! Cheers!
